Dear Mr. Armani,

I am writing you this letter today to applaud your announcement earlier this week that you will no longer be using real animal fur in any of your future designs beginning with your autumn/winter 2016 collection.

Thank you for advancing your thinking and practices to adopt this stance and commitment. After all, how beautiful can any fashion be with the stain of animal cruelty on it?

Where does all this animal-cruelty enlightenment end? I acknowledge that, as I write this, I am wearing leather shoes and carrying a leather handbag. I ate chicken for dinner last night. Perhaps one day soon, I will consider myself a barbarian for these acts.

For now, I’m just taking it one step at a time, one day at a time. And today I feel repelled by animal fur in fashion, and I thank you for putting an end to your company’s part in it.
