Dear Senator Moran,

I was happy to read in this morning’s Salt Lake Tribune that you, a Republican Senator from the great state of Kansas, have expressed support for Senate consideration of President Obama’s Supreme Court pick, and that you recognize that the Senate has “the responsibility to have a hearing, to have the conversation and to make a determination on the merit.”

Bravo for you for speaking your mind, and putting country and accountability over party.

You’re probably going to take some heat for your open-mindedness from some close-minded colleagues. But take heart in the fact that an average lady moderate Democrat in Utah took notice of your integrity and wrote you a letter to thank you for stating your position even if it differs from your party heads… and even though I’m not a Kansas voter, I bet there are a bunch of ladies just like me in Kansas who feel the same way.

To thine own self be true, Senator Moran. YOU were elected as United States Senator from Kansas to keep the country moving forward according to its laws, processes and traditions; thank you for recognizing that, and speaking up.

Sincerely,

Robin Whitney
